RECS is a non-profit organization striving for an open renewable energy market, facilitated by commonly accepted and harmonized tracking systems.
Our mission is:
- To stimulate renewable energy demand by adopting harmonized standards & principles for a transparent transfer of information to the end-user, and
- To encourage the further generation of emmerging renewable energy technologies by increasing competition and cost-efficiency through the expansion of cross-border trade and international cooperation mechanism.
Robust tracking systems are the only means for consumers to use the electricity product of their choice. Since 2001 RECS (formerly RECS International) has worked to improve and simplify the system of tracked electricity, the certificates used in that system and the claims that consumers can make after purchasing certificates. RECS represent market players – from electricity generators, traders, wholesalers and suppliers to consumers – in the continuing dialogue with national legislative bodies and policy makers in order to establish robust energy attribute tracking systems.
